The Heart in Art exhibition is a collaboration between Woollahra Council and First Hand Solutions Aboriginal Corporation to coincide with the National Indigenous Art Fair and NAIDOC Week. The exhibition showcases First Nations artists working in some of the most remote art centres in Australia and provides Sydney-siders with the opportunity to experience the breadth and depth of their practices. The exhibition will include painting, works on paper, sculpture, video and ceramic works from some of Australia’s leading art centres. Visitors will experience a vibrant exhibition housed in the historic Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf.
The exhibition will include a NAIDOC week talk with Peter Cooley the CEO of First Hand Solutions Aboriginal Corporation on Saturday 9 July at 2pm. The exhibition will also provide several professional development opportunities for First Nations arts workers facilitated by Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf Co-ordinator Sebastian Goldspink. The exhibition will also act as a satellite venue for the National Indigenous Art Fair which takes place form Saturday 2nd - Sunday 3rd July 2022 at the Overseas Passenger Terminal.
Art Centres include BulaBula Arts, Anindilyakwa Arts Centre, Ngwarle Untye Art, Injalak Art Centre, Tjarlirli and Kaltukatjara Art, Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Corporation, APY Art Centre Collective, Munupi Art and Craft Centre, Juluwarlu and Papulankutja.
