The Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf has been awarded the Leo Kelly OAM Arts and Culture Award as part of the NSW Local Government Week 2022 Awards.

The gong recognised the hard work that went into transforming the much-loved St Brigid's building into the fully accessible, dynamic and contemporary art space it is today.

The Council also won two awards for its Aboriginal Heritage Study, a reflection of an organisation-wide commitment to honouring Indigenous heritage and culture, which The Woollahra Gallery is proud to play our part in.

"We are delighted to have won awards tonight in all of the three Local Government Week categories we entered. The Awards represent a great team effort and our strong commitment to cultural development,” said the General Manager of Woollahra Municipal Council, Craig Swift-McNair.

“Sincere congratulations to everyone involved in the Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf and in developing the Woollahra Aboriginal Heritage Study. Their dedication to the work they do and to our community really does see our Woollahra Council vision of being a thriving, sustainable and resilient community that will benefit future generations, come to life.”

NSW Local Government Minister, Wendy Tuckerman said she is proud of the work being done every day in the state’s local government sector, as some of the best community projects, events and initiatives from councils across NSW were recognised at the awards.

“I’m so proud of the work being done every day in the local government sector and it’s wonderful to see so many outstanding and innovative projects highlighted at the 2022 Local Government Week awards,” Mrs Tuckerman said.

“Councils are central to the everyday lives of communities across NSW and the Local Government Week awards are an opportunity to showcase the important work they do.

“I’d like to congratulate all the award winners who have gone above and beyond for their communities.”
