Seven Shillings Beach Story Lines

23 August - 17 September 2023

Carl Milton, Murray Rose Pool, 2023

Carl Milton’s creative output is inspired by his life experiences as well as his interest in nature, neuroscience and epigenetics. Carl’s practice oscillates between representational depictions of the world in which we live, and small sculptures and paintings of environmental and human energy fields. Carl lives and works on Gadigal Land, operating out of Square One studios in Alexandria.

For his exhibition at the Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf, Carl highlights diverse and sometimes incongruent narratives pertaining to Seven Shillings Beach; a small, idyllic and exclusive harbourside beach that is largely unknown to the majority of Sydneysiders. His scenes drift from microcosm to macrocosm, fact and fiction, in an intimate portrait of place.
