Jaye Early is a practice-led, multidisciplinary artist working with video-based performance and painting. Early’s work examines the formation of contemporary subjectivity and autonomy within a confessional, online twenty-first-century culture, where boundaries between public and private are increasingly blurred. Through video and painting, Early explores how confessional art practices can articulate displaced digital subjectivities and complex politics of self.

Early’s work is held in public and private collections including the National Gallery of Victoria and Victoria University, and they have exhibited nationally and internationally since 2015. Their paintings have been shortlisted for major Australian art awards, including the Archibald Prize, John Sulman Prize, Moran National Portrait Prize, Victorian Indigenous Art Awards, Redlands Art Award, and the Koorie Art Prize.
